december 2008- sensed god telling us to switch up our adoption plans and pursue adopting a boy with special needs. realized if we pursued this route, we would have to start over with a new adoption agency. decided to go for it!
january 2008- submitted our application with our new agency- GWCA
1.16.09- received the file for Fu Hai
1.18.09- phone consultation with CHOP to review Fu Hai's reports
1.19.09 - submitted our questions to our agency
7 weeks later...received additional information!
3.10.09- submitted our Letter of Intent (LOI)
3.17.09- received Pending Approval (PA)
5.29.09- dossier FINALLY on it's way to china!
6.23.09- officially logged in with the CCAA (LID)
9.08.09- received our letter seeking confirmation (LSC)!
9.30.09- TRAVEL APPROVAL (TA)!!!!
10.20.09- LEAVE FOR CHINA!!
10.25.09- MEET ZACH!!
11.04.09- Consulate Appointment!
11.07.09- FLY HOME!
china adoption acronyms
CCAA- China Center for Adoption Affairs- all adoptions from China go thru this
Dossier- a file of documents submitted by parents to the CCAA.
I600- form needed to apply for a visa for the adopted child to travel into the United States and become a U.S. Citizen
LOI- Letter of Intent- letter submitted by prospective adoptive parents to the CCAA stating their intent to adopt a child. Included in the LOI is a detailed care plan of how they will provide the care and medical attention this child will need.
LSC- Letter Seeking Confirmation- letter sent by the CCAA to the adoptive parents confirming the placement of a child with the family.
PA- Pending Approval- approval given by the CCAA in response to a LOI. This approval is dependent on the review and approval of the family's dossier.
TA- travel approval- granted by the CCAA after the LSC has been sent back to them. This document permits the family to travel to China to adopt their child.
